Integrity in Business and Academia
The term integrity is bandied around a bit these days – but it is a critical element of both business and academia. The more it is talked about – the better. A recent book (Whateley, Kopanakis and Bofinger – 2024) goes into considerable detail on the topic with 29 chapters exploring a range of applications and contexts (both in business and academia) in which integrity plays a vital part in ensuring that standards are maintained and businesses flourish.
Whateley G, Bofinger I and Hooke, A. (2023) The New Reality Volume 11 ISBN 978-0-6457289-6-5
The ‘new normal’ has been explained away – suggesting that the changes that have occurred and reframed our working lives in particular are now normal. The term ‘new reality’ is probably more fitting as we stretch and yawn our way out of the COVID-19 scenario and take stock of the new environment we have created and are now living within. What the ‘new reality’ though implies is a heightened use of technology with the notion that we will not return to what we once accepted as normal.
WFA Working from anywhere and the Digital nomad DN
There has been considerable chatter about the notion of working from home (WFH) over the last few years, courtesy of COVID-19. Essentially a health consideration from the outset, it has now become more of a lifestyle question, impacting on everything from negotiating a contract, changes to house prices (a shift of demographic), design of new houses (with home office space included) and whether to finally make a sea or tree change a reality. The burning question is whether the associated freedom can ever be reels back in.
50 Shades of Greg - Celebrating 50 years in Academia
Whateley, G et al (2024) 50 Shades of Greg Volume 16 ISBN9978-0-6486131-4-5
This publication brings together fifty (50) short articles written during the period 2020-2024 - essentially during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The period was in many ways a strange period with higher education going online; a digital revolution looming; and a serious rethink about how we work - all coming into focus.
Whateley, G. and Bofinger, I. (2024) The Seven Carriages - An approach to thesis design and development
This publication represents an attempt to provide a comprehensive, organised and accepted approach to the design and development of a university major research project. Indeed, the approach can be used for writing an article to be published in a professional journal. It is a useful booklet for all researchers. Whether undergraduate or postgraduate confronted for the first time with the task of a research project/thesis. Such a project can often be daunting without a clear and systematic approach.
